Collection: Softbodyceramics

Lukas, alias SOFTBODYCERAMICS, started working with clay in 2016 extending a prior sculptural practice exploring a variety of other materials.

Lukas’ sculptures draw upon nature, sci-fi, tattoos, animation, computer games, dance, the weird, ugly and beautiful. He thinks of them as alien artifacts, mysterious plants, hallucinations on a dark and crowded dance-floor, ancient sea creatures, ritual vessels, sexual organs, magical rocks and soft bodies. Their creation process remains visible in each piece.

Experimentation and pushing possibilities in terms of form, structure and chemistry is a central part of Lukas’ work. The development and application of glazes - crafting a glass-like skin over fired clay - are central parts of his process. In his self-prepared clay bodies and glazes he incorporates found and collected materials such as sand, shells, wild clay, stones and glass.
